Guilin Yangshuo Kumquat
Guilin Yangshuo Kumquat is a magical fruit that can be eaten with its skin, known locally as the "longevity fruit." Its oval-shaped fruit has a smooth, golden skin like a mini mango. Unlike ordinary kumquats, Yangshuo kumquats have thin, soft skins without any bitter taste, but a hint of honey-like sweetness. The flesh is tender and juicy—one bite releases slightly tangy juice that fills the mouth, with a fresh aroma that makes you want to eat more. Yangshuo's unique hilly terrain and selenium-rich soil provide the perfect conditions for kumquat growth, with an average annual temperature of about 20°C and abundant rainfall, allowing kumquats to absorb plenty of sunlight and nutrients throughout the year. In Yangshuo's Baisha Town, every household has kumquat trees in front of and behind their houses. In autumn and winter, the branches are covered with golden fruits, forming a sea of gold. Foreign visitors are often surprised by the way it's eaten "with skin and flesh" when they first try it, and it's even sweeter when paired with local honey. Yangshuo kumquats can also be made into candied fruits or kumquat jam, making them perfect souvenirs to share the sweetness of Guilin's landscapes with friends and family.
