Guilin Osmanthus Wine
Guilin Osmanthus Wine is a "poetic drink" that integrates autumn osmanthus fragrance into wine, made from local golden osmanthus and rice wine, with wine aroma intertwined with floral fragrance, a mild taste. The process involves picking fresh golden osmanthus when it blooms, drying to remove moisture, putting it into a clay pot together with glutinous rice wine and rock sugar, sealing and steeping for more than 3 months to fully infuse the osmanthus fragrance into the wine. The brewed osmanthus wine is pale yellow, clear and transparent; when the wine jar is opened, the sweet fragrance of osmanthus and the mellow aroma of rice wine hit the nose. It is soft and smooth in the mouth, moderately sweet, with low alcohol content (about 15-20 degrees), so even those not good at drinking can have a sip. In Guilin, osmanthus wine is not only a drink but also a cultural symbol; drinking a cup while appreciating osmanthus in autumn, or using it to cook dishes (such as braised meat with osmanthus wine), all have a unique flavor.
