Guilin Daxu Strawberries are the "sweet rubies" of spring, grown in Daxu Town by the Lijiang River—known as Guilin's "strawberry hometown." From December to April, Daxu's strawberry gardens are filled with heart-shaped strawberries in vibrant red, like rubies scattered across the fields. The main varieties here are cream strawberries and chocolate strawberries. Cream strawberries have a light red skin and soft, juicy flesh with a sweet milky aroma in every bite. Chocolate strawberries are deep red, with firm flesh and a rich caramel-like flavor. Close to the Lijiang River, the strawberry gardens are irrigated with mountain spring water and grown with organic fertilizers, resulting in plump, juicy fruits with a sweetness of 12-15 degrees. The taste is perfectly balanced between sweet and sour, with no astringency. Foreign visitors often carry small bamboo baskets into the strawberry fields to pick fresh strawberries, enjoying the fun of rural life by eating as they pick. The picked strawberries can also be made into strawberry jam or strawberry smoothies on the spot, paired with local rice noodles or desserts for a unique flavor.
